Our lab is actively recruiting talented individuals at all levels, from research technicians to postdoctoral fellows! We are committed to fostering an inclusive, collaborative, and innovative environment where team members from various backgrounds can contribute to groundbreaking research in neuroscience. We are recruiting students and postdocs interested in neurobiology and developmental biology, and how these processes relate to human diseases and injuries in which touch and pain sensations are disrupted. We are always looking for creative, curious, and ambitious scientists to join our lab. Candidates with a passion for scientific discovery and a desire to work in a collaborative, cutting-edge setting are encouraged to apply.

Graduate Students already at Vanderbilt University should contact Shan to discuss potential projects in the lab.

Postdoc Candidates: Please contact Shan with a brief introduction, CV, and the email addresses for three references.

Undergraduate Students already at Vanderbilt University should contact Shan to discuss potential projects and positions as an undergraduate researcher or a Research Technician in the lab. In your email, please attach your answers to this questionnaire

Recommendations from Previous Mentees:

“It was a pleasure to be mentored by Shan as a Research Assistant, where working with her on her creative research questions helped me grow as a scientist and inspired my own passion for neuroscience. Looking back, I admire Shan’s rigor and creativity in her research, but especially her generosity as a mentor. I have learned so much from Shan that I believe has been key to my success as a graduate student.”

— Katelyn Comeau Research Assistant working with Shan, 2019-2021. Now a PhD student at Harvard University

“Working with Shan as a research assistant has been an incredible experience. Her kindness, patience, and dedication to her RAs/students make the research environment not only productive, but also supportive and enriching. Anyone who has the privilege of working with her will benefit greatly from her guidance and mentorship.”
